Body Brushing

To brush or not to brush?

Do you body brush? Admittedly, we were not ones to body brush. Who has the time? Is it really beneficial? These were the questions we asked ourselves. If we’re being brutally honest, we couldn’t really have been bothered. Well, NO MORE, because when you delve a little deeper, the benefits of body brushing are quite remarkable and for only an extra 5 minutes out of your day. It is definitely something to consider doing especially at this time of year when our bodies may not be as active and when our skin gets that little bit dryer as temperatures change and indoor heating is being turned on.

Ideally done in the morning, body brushing can increase circulation which is particularly beneficial on areas of toxic accumulation (cellulite to us). It helps to shed dead skin cells leaving your skin smoother and more radiant. It allows for better absorption of nutrients by clearing clogged pores. It encourages better removal of waste as it boosts the lymphatic system.

Always work in the direction of the heart

Use long gentle strokes where possible

Keep your brush dry and do not bring it into the shower

To keep your brush bacteria free you can spray the bristles with a solution of distilled water and tea tree essential oil
